The first party i went to was, i think, the yearly School-Girl party, soon after our first munch, and it is still the reason why the School-Girl party is my favorite themed party each year. Colin told us about it, and Sir encouraged me to get all dressed up, and i had more fun than i would have admitted, at the time, wearing a little pink plaid pleated shirt and a white button-down. i was nervous enough for three people, because my skinny little legs were showing, and i was embarrassed, but a little good-natured humiliation never hurt anybody.

We called Colin from our car to tell him we were there, because we weren’t sure which house it was. i remember my relief when i saw him coming out the front door to greet us; he was dressed like a band teacher, and that got me all giggly and in the mood for a party right away. The first thing i remember once we got into the house, was meeting a man all dressed up in the cutest school-girl outfit, and i loved the shoes he had on so much, that i couldn’t stop staring at them. Before i even said “hi” i blurted out, “Oh my gosh, i LOVE your shoes!” Luckily, people at Fightclub don’t tend to get offended by nervous flibbertigibbets who find themselves fixated on really cool shoes! The conversation that nervous blurt started got me talking to several other people too, and i quickly found that no one seemed to think me too far out of the ordinary. i was so happy to see so many short skirts and so many obviously kinked-out and friendly people, that the whole first part of the party is a blur to me – a happy blur that included lots of good munchies.

Sir checked out the basement first, (which was the designated play-area) to give me a chance to sit upstairs and feel comfortable, and then He came and took me down for a look too. It was nice. Not too big, not too small, and not at all intimidating to someone like me. (Thank heaven) we got to sit around and talk quietly to a few people, before someone came down to play, and then we watched some light play for awhile. i enjoyed it, but being the bashful person i sometimes am, i needed air, before i exploded from sheer embarrassment. We went outside and sat on the swings in the host’s yard, and Bronson came out for some air too. It turned out that he was fairly new to the group as well, and he was as relieved as we were to find a group to play and talk with that didn’t set off his “way too weird for me” buttons. All in all, we agreed, that the world would be much more accepting of kink in general, if they had any idea how completely not-crazy it’s practitioners were.

If i recall rightly, that entire first party was talking and meeting people, for us. There was no pressure to play, but we knew that if we wanted to, all we had to do was wait for a turn in the play area. We watched, we asked questions, we learned. (i think Jen showed Sir how to properly use a cane on my butt, which i remember being all excited and a-tremble about) And we got it firmly set in our minds that this really was OK, and that we weren’t alone. Plus, there were LOTS of fun things out there to do, that we hadn’t tried yet. It was a good feeling. And there are lots of things out there, still for us to try, at future parties.
